What Arrives
The Tale
After Mirae watches a little boy turn teasing about his big ears into the very thing that makes him fly, a comment about her own wild hair makes her want to hide.
Then Calyn helps her discover that being different does not mean being wrong — and that no one else gets to decide what her difference means.
The 20-page story is followed by The Together Part — gentle questions to explore together, a parent tip, a first journal page, a blessing card for your child, and a wisdom card for you.
A Quiet Truth to Carry
“The things that make you different are not wrong. They are simply part of you. You don’t have to love them yet — but you get to decide what they mean.”
— Calyn
A child may barely think about a difference until someone points it out and everyone looks. In that moment, being noticed can begin to feel like being judged — and hiding can feel safer than being seen.
THE FIRST FEW LINES
On a day like any other, when the world feels both big and small, this story begins…
Seven-year-old Mirae was on her way to the library at Willowbrook Elementary, passing the kindergarten playground that sat just beside the school building, when she heard a boy’s voice call out loud enough for everyone to hear:
“Your ears are huge. Like… waaaay too big!”
She stopped and turned toward the voice, her stomach tightening. A boy with grass-stained knees stood near the sandbox, hands spread wide for emphasis. He was pointing at a smaller boy — maybe only four years old — who’d been happily building a sand castle with some other children.
Mirae knew what happened next. The awful quiet. The staring. The way your face gets hot and you want to disappear.
But something made her stop at the edge of the playground, one hand gripping her library book. She had to see.
